You will be working at a successful, innovative and dynamic organisation. COARE is a design and realisation firm. Active in architecture and construction, we create and deliver projects for businesses, educational and healthcare institutions. Our projects range greatly in size and cost, from EUR 20,000 to EUR 5 million.

COARE is not your run-of-the-mill construction company. In our view, what marks us out is our innovative and sustainable approach and the high level of transparency that we provide to our clients. As construction buyer at COARE, you are strategically, tactically and operationally responsible for all procurement activities. You make sure the most efficient, cost-effective and sustainable materials and services are used, from interior walls, painting and flooring to ground work, foundation piles and façade and roof covering.

You use your knowledge and experience to streamline and structure the buying process, are a good discussion partner for suppliers and are able to compare and assess the costs and quality of the services provided. You work closely with work planners and realisation managers (project leaders).

Your responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to a professional purchasing policy while maintaining responsibility for day-to-day buying activities.

  • Maintaining contact with a range of suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotations for materials and/or services;

  • Assessing and managing price, quality, delivery times and all other conditions;

  • Tendering;

  • Buying materials/services in cooperation with the realisation manager and work planner;

  • Negotiating and agreeing the most favourable prices and closing contracts;

  • Assessing and safeguarding the quality of the services or projects provided by suppliers;

What skills are required?

You are organised, goal oriented and have good analytical skills. You will be working with multiple vendors to determine the best deals for COARE, and will have to evaluate the many pros and cons of each based on price, quality and other factors.  You have good communication skills. You will be working with suppliers to create the best deals and your analytical and social skills will help you do so. You have an enterprising, inventive attitude and are able to work independently and use the information you have gathered to make decisions on behalf of COARE. You have a strong sense of responsibility. And of course, you need to be commercially minded!

Additional requirements:

  • Completed Upper Secondary Vocational Education (or higher);

  • At least five years of experience as a buyer, preferably within construction or related field;

  • Must be able to work at least 32 hours a week;

  • Reside in Amsterdam region.

What do we offer?

  • A challenging job at an ambitious organisation with a unique and transparent approach.

  • The chance to realise unique projects for attractive organisations with a young and ambitious team of 35 colleagues.

  • The opportunity to contribute to the professional development of COARE's procurement department and to be partially responsible for its success.

  • Plenty of room for your input. As this is a new position you will have the opportunity to work independently and shape the evolution of your role.

  • Opportunities for growth into the role of procurement manager.

  • A competitive salary in line with your skills and experience (EUR 3,700 – EUR 4,200).

  • Excellent secondary benefits, including contribution-free pension accrual.

  • 25 days leave. Smartphone/laptop/iPad.

  • An inspiring work environment in Amsterdam-Noord.
